SANTIAGO NOGUERA PUCHOL

Prof. Émerito at the Department of Theoretical Physics of the University of Valencia

I began my research career in the field of nuclear physics, studying the non-conservation of mirror symmetry in nuclear reactions, distinguishing the contributions of the composite nucleus and the particle-nucleus interaction, as well as double beta decay processes, clarifying the role of SU(4) symmetry.

My research evolved toward the study of hadronic models. In particular, the study of local and non-local chiral models applied to different aspects, such as charm particle decay and the study of parton amplitudes and distributions.

In recent years, my research has focused on the effect of intense background electromagnetic fields on hadronic matter. In the case of intense magnetic fields, I have also studied the effects of high density and high temperature. In the case of intense laser fields, I have studied their effect on hadronic properties.

Since 1996, I have participated in several European projects as coordinator (IP) of the contribution of IFIC Valencia:
  • «Hadronic Physics with High Energy Electromagentic Probes» (1996-2000),
  • «Electron Scattering Off Confined Partons» (2000-2003),
  • «Study of Strongly Interacting Matter. Hadron Physiscs» (2004-2008),
  • «Study of Strongly Interacting Matter. HadronPhysiscs 2» (2009-2011),
  • Study of Strongly Interacting Matter. Hadronphysics3 (2012-2014),
  • The strong interaction at the frontier of knowledge: fundamental research and applications: STRONG-2020 (2019-2024).
  • I have acted as director of the department of theoretical physics for 9 years, 6 years as vice-director of IFIC and 4 years as member of the Governing Council of the University of Valencia.
